How scary is that! We have had some press photos taken and I thought that I would give you a sneak preview taken at the photo call with my little happy snappy camera. Collaboration with Claremont Dramatic society We are pleased to announce that the show that the joint steering committee has elected for presentation at the Masque at the end of next year is….. Drum roll…… GIGI!! The show will be directed by Clifford Graham and staged at the Masque during the last 3 weeks of December. Clifford has got some great ideas and surprises up his sleeve to ensure that this musical will "fit" the Masque. We envisage that auditions will be held during May next year. So watch this space. Call for proposals We are still calling for proposals for our candlelight theatre slot Candlelight theatre 2010: The first slot will be the weekend of 9, 10, 11, April. We would like to use this slot for two one-act plays. The second slot is planned differently this year. We would like to try to run a musical review over 2 weekends. The dates planned are July 22 23 24 and 29 30 31. We are calling for proposals for both slots. Please send in your ideas or proposals as soon as possible. We would like to make a final decision for the April slot by the end Dec and for the July slot by the end of Jan. Contact me on 082 772 9644 or send me an email. Great fun at the Halloween party A huge thanks to David Bolton for organizing a fun party. It was really wonderful to see everyone dressed up for the occasion. We had ghouls, zombies, lots of witches, a couple of fairies, a pirate, the phantom of the opera and many more. The décor was great and the floating eye in the punch added to the ambience of the evening. Thanks to Justin, Johann and David for the musical entertainment and to Shaun for acting as DJ. Thanks too to Vera (with her devil's horns) for being bar maid! Other society news Block booking for Claremont's Return to Oz. We had a good response to the block booking for Pinafore so thought that we would try again with a visit to OZ. Ever wondered what happened to Dorothy when she clicked her red shoe heels together? This light-hearted story tracks Dorothy's journey with her three friends as they travel back to Kansas. Full of those familiar songs from The Wizard of Oz that dovetail with popular songs, and great family entertainment. Written and directed by Yvonne Copley with Musical direction is by Roland Perold, and Choreography by Barrie Howard. Frances Sholto -Douglas who was one of the munchkins in our production of Oz plays Dorothy. The show runs from 20 to 28 November. We need to slot in with our panto rehearsal schedule so If you would like to join us on Friday 27th November please give me a call on 0827719644. or you make your own booking by calling the Masque 021 788 1898 Auditions for all-male "Nunsense" Award-winning director Teddy Davies will stage the South African premiere of "Nunsense A-Men" for Festival Productions at the Artscape Arena in May 2010. An all-male cast play the now famous roles of the five deliciously Wacky nuns: Musical direction is by Victor Tichart with choreography by Kyla Thorburn. Auditions will be held on Wednesday 4 November at 7.30pm with recalls on Sunday 15 November at 2.00pm and will be held in Rehearsal Room 308 Artscape Theatre Centre (entrance via Stage Door) Men who wish to audition are requested to phone Pat McDonald 021 531 8261 to book a time slot.
