From November the 9th to the 17th 2007 Pinelands Players staged The Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones Musical "The Fantasticks" For this production our Director was June Wells. Musical Direction by Jean Mc Kenzie. The Cast : El Gallo :Roland Perold Luisa: Deidre Hewett Matt: Shaun Holley Bellomy: Ted Faulkner Hucklebee: Bennie Smit Henry: Clifford Graham Mortimer: Greg Tinney The Mute: Christine Thonissen Lighting Design was by Daniel Galloway & Set by Chris Wells. From the Directors notes: The Fantasticks opened at the Sullivan Street Theatre in new York in 1960 and ran for 42 years before being closed owing to the demolition of the theatre! It opened again in 2005 and who knows--maybe it will run for another 42 years? There is something magical about this show that transcends time and trends. With the script comes a note from the Authors: "Transform it into something uniquely your own" I think they meant that for the audience as well as us.--take it at face value and it's a simple coming of age love story; listen closely and it will have a meaning unique to you. I truly hope you enjoy creating the imaginary world of theatre with us! |
